I woke up on the West Bank in Bethlehem from a deep sleep. Infront of my bed was a figure of white light on a pure white horse, with hooves in the air. Though I had felt spellbound by the effect of the figures, I was not afraid at all. I asked out loud ”who are you?”
”I am the Archeon of Ages.”
It was one of those times when you neither asked for an experience or expected it, but it happened anyway. I could think of nothing to ask, simply too astounded to ask anything. I sat upright on the bed, until the figure disappeared. Later years in the Sultanate of Oman, I had a similar, yet more compelling experience.
I had often wondered if the experience had to do with the loving home of Michel and Carmen Zoughbi who could trace back their family origins at least a thousand years, plus. It was a grand privilege to stay with them for some time. Through their eyes we experienced the beauty of Jericho, the sadness of matters on the West Bank and their love for each other and their precious family.
We had met some of their Muslim neighbours and had wonderful experiences in their home. It is one of the jewels, forming the pearl necklace of my life. Like a drop of dew, in the midst of a sun scorched land. The love of neighbours and the benefit of love, Ezekiel 31: 11. Michel believes all that is evil will be driven out of the land, it is not an action in the hand of mere men. Theirs is a house of love.
The world needs to return back to love and grace.
Michel Zoughbi is a Palestinian Christian, addressing the Lutheran Church of the Master, Lakewood, CO All Saints’ Day, November 5, 2023.
Michel is a Palestinian Christian that shared his experience of living with military occupation. The Zoughbi’s have raised six children under extremely difficult circumstances. They suffered enormous challenges trying to keep their family together as Michel had legal residence in Bethlehem, and Carmen in East Jerusalem at the time, and Israeli government regulations prevented their living together.
Michel Zoughbi traveled the world discussing the efforts of Palestinians in their situation to build constructive lives, despite severe restrictions on residency and movement with a presentation titled “Life Under Occupation: Beyond Victimhood.”
Michel and Carmen Zoughbi visited the Lutheran Church of the Master, Lakewood, CO All Saints’ Day, November 5, 2023, see his Message Only on the Youtube link.
